Is wet dog food bad dogs teeth?

I recently got a Shi Tzu, Yorkie mix. When we got it the breeder said not to feed it wet food. So, it was raised on all natural dry dog food.

We also have two other dogs and feed then wet dog food in the morning, and leave for the two dogs dry dog food so they can eat it when ever. However, the Shi Tzu has been getting in the wet dog food, (looks likes he enjoys it.)

So, we decided that we would look in to getting some all natural wet dog food and mixing it with his dry stuff. However, I also hear that wet dog food is bad for their teeth, is that true, even if it’s all natural dog food?

Please give me what you think, if I should or shouldn%26#039;t.

Im no expert but here%26#039;s the low down...

Plaque builds up on dogs teeth just as they do on human teeth. Dry food helps clean the dogs teeth as they eat...chewing bones etc also does the same thing. They all help scrape off and keep plaque from forming on the dogs teeth.

If dogs are raised on wet food only then there is no natural means for this plaque to be removed. Hence peoples say that wet food is bad for dogs teeth. It isnt, if you fed your dog wet food and also provided it with something that would naturally help clean its teeth you would be fine.
Reply:yes, wet food is bad. kind of like giving candy to a kid on a morning noon and night basis. if the dog really likes the wet food and will not eat dry, then it would be best to take it to the vet to get a good teeth cleaning every six months, which you should do anyway.

dry food is best, though. if it will continue to eat dry, let the dog eat dry and give it wet food every once in awhile as a treat.
Reply:Yes because it%26#039;s soggy and it%26#039;s not the way dogs eat
