Is wet dog food bad dogs teeth?

I recently got a Shi Tzu, Yorkie mix. When we got it the breeder said not to feed it wet food. So, it was raised on all natural dry dog food.

We also have two other dogs and feed then wet dog food in the morning, and leave for the two dogs dry dog food so they can eat it when ever. However, the Shi Tzu has been getting in the wet dog food, (looks likes he enjoys it.)

So, we decided that we would look in to getting some all natural wet dog food and mixing it with his dry stuff. However, I also hear that wet dog food is bad for their teeth, is that true, even if it’s all natural dog food?

Please give me what you think, if I should or shouldn%26#039;t.

People mistakenly thing that the breeders are the final authority when it comes to pet foods when in reality most of them know little about pet food labels and ingredients - they are just partial to a specific brand probably because they are getting a discount from that particular brand.

Dry dog food will significantly affect the health of your dog%26#039;s teeth; if you continue on wet food; expect your dog%26#039;s teeth to deteriorate and have dental problems.

You can read more information about how dog food affects the teeth on the web.
Reply:no, i have three dogs and the vet suggestion we added a little wet food to their diets, their all fine but we usually get science diet and then spoon mix it with their food.
Reply:this one is best to ask the vet

he should be better to answer you on this
Reply:it is not that it is bad it is that the dry is better.Dry dog helps with the plaque on your dogs teeth. So yes an all wet diet for a dog is not good unless you want to brush your dogs teeth more often. But feeding wet in the morning and dry the rest of the day should not hurt.
Reply:Mixing wet with dry is better than just wet food. All kinds of dog food - wet and dry - can cause plaque and tartar build up on dogs teeth. I find that frozen raw beef bones work GREAT for cleaning teeth. Go to a local butcher, locker plant, or perhaps a grocery store - and buy some raw bones. Feeding just kibble would be best, but occasionally mixing a little bit of wet food in is okay.
Reply:I think it is bad for their teeth. It builds plaque and it is messy and gives them doggy food breath. I feed my puppy Beneful Healthy Growth for Puppies and she loves it. It is healthy and she does not gain weight from it. Small dogs and retrievers should be watched for their weight. My dog is a Golden Retriever and my fiance%26#039;s parents have mini dacshunds and they gain weight easily. They eat wet food as well as people food and that is why they are fat. My vet said that all retrievers tend to gain weight and have hip problems so they can%26#039;t eat lots of fat and that includes people food!
