DOG EXPERTS, PLEASE HELP! Dog teeth has brown eroded holes!?

My 1 year old puppy had had this problem ever since his adult teeth came. It started with small brown patches, which eventually became bigger and bigger holes. It eats away the tooth, causing brown %26#039;holes%26#039; concaved in the teeth!





Description: Teeth white, with small brown holes everywhere. It is more serious in the front teeth that back. When i feel them, the brown holes are caved in, forming little %26#039;caves%26#039;.





I am really desperate!!! I don%26#039;t know what to do!! I can%26#039;t go to a dog dentist, that is not an option. Worst case scenario: Will my puppy die because of this? He is losing appetite...

Get him to the vet and have his teeth cleaned. While your vet has your dog cleaning his teeth and doing any necessary extractions, he can also try and find the cause. Teeth cleaning is usually less than $200. They don%26#039;t make dog dentures, so don%26#039;t delay.





Bad teeth can lead to many serious things, like kidney failure. So I can%26#039;t stress the importance of prompt care.
Reply:If your dog is in pain, or losing his appetite and you are worried, you need to take him to the vet ASAP. You wont find the correct anser on the web, you need vet help.
Reply:sorry hun, but only option you might have is to go to the vet for your little puppy. if the teeth are rotting away thats one thing, but if he%26#039;s losing his appetite thats another. your puppy will have serious problems if he doesn%26#039;t get help soon. those teeth need to be checked out and pulled out!
Reply:I am stumped,.. but obiously it is causing the pup some pain that%26#039;s why loss of appetite.


Nothing%26#039;s worse than a toothache too.


It may be from a vitamin/mineral deficiency that%26#039;s causing the teeth enamal to erode.





HAVE YOU TAKEN TO A VET?


A reputable vet with experience (may not need a specialist) would have come across that condition before.


So take to vet for oral examination.

Reply:Do you brush your dogs teeth? if not you should,its a normal thing to do for a dog. If not visit a free animal clinic or a vet. I%26#039;m sure they are alot more helpful
Reply:OK, YOU DONT HAVE TO TAKE IT TO A DOG DENTIST. A NORMAL VET CAN PULL THE PUPPIES TEETH IF THEY ARE THAT BAD! YOU NEED TO TAKE IT TO THE VET ASAP BECAUSE HES LOST HIS APPETITE, HE WILL EVENTUALLY STARVE HIMSELF TO DEATH OR REFUSING TO EAT CAN CAUSE INTERNAL PROBLEMS WHICH IN THE END WILL COST YOU ALOT MORE TO HAVE A VET FIX THEN TO GET HIS TEETH PULLED.

Reply:It sounds like what used to be called %26quot;Distemper teeth%26quot;. Was your dog ill as a puppy? Many dogs used to have teeth like this after suffering a very high temperature as a pup. You should take him to the vet to find out though.
Reply:I am not a dog expert, only a 62 year old retired registered nurse with a 4 year old mutt and two cats. We always had female dogs in our large family, but Zeke was 10 months old when he adopted me.





I have never heard of your problem. What did your vet say? I never heard of a doggie dentist. The only thing I notice is that my dogs%26#039; teeth always get a bit darker along the gum line as they age. I have friends who tell me they brush their dogs teeth, but I wonder why. I once had a neighbor dog with a few teeth missing, but he seemed healthy enough.





If you cannot afford to see a vet, call your local humane society. If they cannot recommend someone you can afford, maybe you cannot afford a dog.





Dogs are so much better than humans. They love you even if you don%26#039;t give them enough love. Humans are lying and trying to cheat me every day, but no dog would ever do that.





If a vet or licensed vet tech tells you your dog is losing weight, he may need nutritional supplementation, like Ensure, Instant Breakfast or vitamins %26amp; minerals But do not spend the money on fancy foods, just read the labels at the pet food stores and go to cheap human food stores. Dogs can stay healthy with the foods most humans eat except for those crazy vegans (vegetarians). Dogs need more protein than humans (but not as much as cats). You may consider supplementing your dog food with a percentage of cat food. Whatever you do, run your written plan by your dogs vet.

Reply:What kind of a dog is he? Some breeds, especially tight mouthed/lip breeds such as greyhounds and toy breeds have all sorts of trouble with their teeth and need yearly dentals done by a vet. My Italian Greyhounds need yearly dentals, one of them has a tendancy to get the spots your talking about, but he also has a tooth enamal problem, maybe yours does too. If thats the case nothing you can really do other than brushing and feeding a quality diet will help. Only your vet can do a proper dental cleaning to prevent future damage. Abcessed teeth can cause a massive infection and turn into blood poisoning and quickly kill the puppy.

If you are unable to spend a little money for this condition that I have NEVER heard of (sounds terrible) even though the dog is in pain and not eating, then perhaps you should take it to a shelter and give up your ownership.





A vet check-up is only around the $50 range, see what is wrong with the dog. Any treatment they need to do can be put on a payment plan- vets offer that.
